The increased demand on the energy caused for more development in the technology of the renewable energy. In Red Sea and Arabian Gulf the Renewable energy is such as sunlight, wind, tides and wave. Part of our interests as physical oceanographers is studying waves and tides in the region. These studies are useful to improve the renewable energy technology.

Other important interest is the effect of the desalination plants on the marine environment. Saudi Arabia is located in dry region where the life time to renew the fresh water consumption is very high. Therefore, it is important to balance between the need of fresh water and the pollution caused by the desalination plants in the marine environment.
